A Private 240-Acre Mountaintop Wedding Estate in Colorado

Tundra Springs is a private estate wedding venue in Colorado: 240 acres at the top of a mountain in Hot Sulphur Springs, between Grand Lake, Steamboat and Winter Park, bordering the Colorado River. Tundra Springs hosts one wedding at a time. For the length of your stay, all 240 acres are reserved for you alone, from the seven-bedroom Lower House to the meadows, the spring-fed pond and the mountaintop lookout. It is an exclusive-use venue in the fullest sense.

The defining quality here is space. A 40-acre lower meadow and a 20-acre upper meadow look out across the Continental Divide, Rocky Mountain National Park and Longs Peak. There is no guest-count cap: your tent sets the scale of the celebration, and the meadow has room for any size. There is no curfew and there are no noise restrictions.

Those closest to you can stay on site. The Lower House sleeps 20+ in 4 bunk rooms, 2 suites and one mega primary suite, and the handcrafted Serenity Cabin, set apart near the summit, sleeps two. Two modern tree houses, a true-to-Tolkien Hobbit Hole pub and a 40-foot Outlook Nest complete the property, and a private helicopter landing pad means guests can arrive directly on the mountain.

For a luxury mountain wedding or a destination wedding, Colorado has no shortage of scenery. Very few places offer this much of it to a single couple, with this much privacy, and with the freedom to make it entirely your own.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Tundra Springs?

Tundra Springs is a private 240-acre mountaintop estate in Hot Sulphur Springs, Colorado, bordering the Colorado River. The entire estate is reserved for one group at a time, for a wedding week or a full ranch rental, so it suits weddings, private retreats, family gatherings, executive offsites and other celebrations.

Where is Tundra Springs located?

Tundra Springs is at 1201 Co Rd 559 in Hot Sulphur Springs, in Grand County, Colorado, between Grand Lake, Steamboat and Winter Park. Downtown Denver is about 2 hours away by road, Grand Lake about 35 to 40 minutes, Winter Park about 40 to 50 minutes and Steamboat Springs about 1½ hours.

How do I get to Tundra Springs from New York, Los Angeles, Miami or another major city?

Most guests fly into Denver International Airport (DEN) and take a scenic drive of about 2½ hours through the Rockies, much like any Colorado mountain getaway. Steamboat (HDN) and Vail (EGE) airports work well too. Private aircraft can land at Granby-Grand County Airport (GNB), just 20 minutes away, or at Kremmling's McElroy Airfield (20V), which takes light business jets, and guests can also arrive by helicopter on the estate's private pad.

Is the whole estate private, or is it shared with other guests?

The whole estate is yours. Tundra Springs hosts one booking at a time, and all 240 acres are reserved for a single party for the length of the stay. There are no other events, no shared spaces and no other guests. The only people on the mountain are your family, your guests and the vendors you choose, and there are no tourist crowds nearby, which gives the estate a true Rocky Mountain feel.

What are the views like?

The estate sits at the top of a mountain with 360-degree views of the Rocky Mountains. From the meadows, the pond and the 40-foot Outlook Nest, guests look out across the Continental Divide, Rocky Mountain National Park, Longs Peak, Elk Mountain and Twin Peaks.

Is Tundra Springs a cool summer escape?

Yes. The estate is on a mountaintop above Hot Sulphur Springs, a town at about 7,680 feet, and its high altitude keeps summers much cooler than in most major U.S. cities. In summer the 40-acre meadow fills with wildflowers. The property is accessible year-round.

What makes Tundra Springs different from other Colorado mountain rentals?

Space, privacy and an unspoiled setting. Guests have 240 private acres to themselves, with the estate’s Scottish Highland cows and wildlife that wander through the property. Along with the Lower House, the estate has a spring-fed pond with a 3,500 sq. ft. deck, two modern tree houses with a 40-foot Outlook Nest, a true-to-Tolkien Hobbit Hole pub, a mountaintop lookout and a private helicopter pad. There is no curfew and there are no noise restrictions.

Where do guests stay?

On-site lodging is in the Lower House, a contemporary home with 7 bedrooms (4 bunk rooms, 2 suites and one mega primary suite) that sleeps 20+, with a designer kitchen and a 1,500 sq. ft. wrap-around deck, and in the Serenity Cabin, a handcrafted cabin near the summit that is set apart from the rest of the property.
